Photo Galleries

Here we have a growing collection of photo galleries for you to help you visualize Thailand and her people.  Just follow the links below!

Angkor Wat -- A series of beautiful shots of the famed temple complex in the neighboring land of Kampuchea [Cambodia], one of the archeo- logical treasures of the world.

Chiang Rai (not a link) --  On a trip to Chiang Rai November 18-20, 2001, Mekhong Kurt took some pictures of the town and its surroundings; click on the links below to see those:

Clinton Plaza -- The newest entertainment venue in the Capital, Clinton Plaza has had a rather beleaguered first year's existentance, and it's future remains somewhat unclear.  But it packs a lot of entertainment into an even tinier space than its big cousin down the road, Nana Entertainment Plaza.

Croc Farm -- The Croccodile Farm located near Bangkok is on most tours "must-see's," what all with silly people sticking their heads into the gaping jaws of LIVE -- and sometimes ORNERY -- crocodiles!

Dusit Zoo -- The Capital's Zoo is nice enough, as zoos go, but is mainly a place to escape the hustle-'n-bustle of the sprawling city right in the heart of that very hustle-'n-bustle.  But Dusit Zoo deservedly receives high marks for its superb care of sick/injured elephants, and has been involved in a number of high-profile elephant-care cases, including a famous one in recent years in which doctors were able to fashion an artifi- cial foot for an unfortunate pachyderm that had lost a foot.

Khun Ae -- Ae is a lovely acquaintance of ours who graciously agreed to pose for these casual shots in February, 2001, taken in two different locations in Bangkok.  She is one example of millions of reasons people can lose their hearts here. . . .

Khun Aom -- Aom is another beautiful lady with whom we know; she kindly offered to let us make a gallery of pictures she had taken of herself in a studio dressed in two different traditional northern Thai costumes.  Aom is still another example of Thai Beauty.

Nana Entertainment Plaza Jan 2001 -- Here we offer some photographs of the night-life enter- tainment venue that has given the world- famed Patpong (see below) some serious com- petition since the mid 1990's.  Nana Entertain- ment Plaza -- just plain "Nana" or "NEP" to most regulars -- is a tiny square just off Sukhumvit Soi 4 just south of the Sukhumvit Road-Soi 4 intersection.  But in a small space with three floors are a LOT of bars, a-go-go's, etc.

New Monk Ceremony -- This has some pictures of a monk ordination taken in the Thai country- side, along with a series of photographs of lovely Thai architecture and other Thai items.

Patpong -- Here is a series of photographs of one of the single most infamous streets in the world.  Commonly misconceived by the neo- phyte as being a single road, Patpong instead is in fact two parallel roads with a fascinating history.  [For those interested in more about Patpong, check out its listing in the BangkokAtoZ Guide under, of course, the "P's."]

Siam Center -- This is a major shopping area in the heart of Bangkok, one where the sharp shopper can make excellent buys on literally thousands of products.

Soi 33 Jan 2001 -- An entertainment venue very different from any other in the Capital, Sukhumvit Soi 33 is almost directly opposite the rather rough-'n-tumble, rowdy Washington Square, and within a kilometer of Soi Cowboy and Clinton Plaza, yet is a world apart from those venues, home as it is to a series of so- called "hostess bars," bars presenting uniformly lovely lasses in beautiful gowns.  It is pricier than most other venues, though almost all the bars offer a Happy Hour between 4:00 P.M. and 9:00 P.M. [1600-2100] when it is possible to drink for reasonable prices.

Thai Style -- (not a link) -- Here we exhibit an extensive photo collection of all sorts of tradi- tional Thai vases, furniture, etc.  Thai ornamen- tation, from that found on the smallest items to the largest buildings, is often exquisitely de- tailed and invariably stunning.  Enjoy your forays through the Thai view of the world as re- flected in traditional styles.

Washington Square Gallery -- Despite our earlier description of Washington Square as a "rough-'n-tumble, rowdy" sort of place (a spot- on description), it is near to our hearts as it is, in fact, the center of both our social and profes- sional activities.  To learn more about this fascinating enclave, see its entry under the "W's" in the BangkokAtoZ Guide.  [Note: This gallery is scheduled to be updated and reformatted soon.]

Wat Arun -- This wat is indisputably one of the most famous in Thailand, for reasons these pictures show.

Wat Po -- An equally famous wat is Wat Po.
