Khun Jan's Miniature Photo Gallery I only wish I had more photos of the lovely Jan, daughter of one of my best friends here in Bangkok. Jan had these photos taken a few years ago and graciously gave them to me when I admired the entire set. She travels almost constantly in her work, but I hope I can catch her long enough to send her to a photo studio to have some more made. Jan is an interesting lady. Her Father is a long-time Old Thai hand, having first come here while with the American army in 1968 during the Vietnam War, when he came here on leave. He married a Thai lady, then retired from military service in 1972 -- and has been here ever since. Jan, 30 as of this writing (April 14, 2005), was born and raised here. Jan's Father is a senior denizen of Washington Square, which is where I met him -- specifically, in The Texas Lone Staar, one of his favorite haunts. Growing up with a Father who is also a Squaronian, Jan spent many a happy hour in the Square, particularly in The Lone Staar, during her childhood -- under the [ferociously!] watchful eyes of her dozens upon dozens of "uncles." Jan is every bit as good-hearted as she is good-looking. Her Father's and my birthdays are on consecutive days in June, and when my Sister was visiting in 2002 at the right time, Jan took the 3 of us -- Kate, my Sister; Burt, her Father; and me -- to a simply splendid meal at Señor Pico's Restaurant. And she did so as her treat. Click on any image to see a larger version of this beautiful lass.
